Legends of the Elsir Vale - Chapter 1: Headin' Down to Goblin Town
After having a lungful of poison gas, the party continued on, discovering evidence of the Hucrele party in the form of a set of disarmed traps and the corpse of the ranger Karakas being munched on by some dire rats and their vicious, nasty, rat king. In the battle, Shiny contracted filth fever and the party utilized their potions of fire breath to dispose of the rats, but damaged the corpse of Karakas beyond recognition.
Moving further into the Citadel, the party encountered a group of goblins practicing their accuracy at a makeshift archery range. Surprising the goblins, the party made short work of them and prevented them from summoning reinforcements. The party then discovered a goblin stockade, where four prisoners were being held: three kobolds from Meepo's tribe and a gnome called Erky Timbers. Erky told the party that he had been captured while on an ill-advised solo adventure some days before. He said he had not heard of the Hucreles, and somewhat begrudgingly agreed to travel with the party until they could lead him back to the entrance to the Citadel.
With Erky in tow, the party left the Kobolds in their shackles while the pressed on. On a failed attempt to disarm a trap, Kiki was afflicted with a strange compulsion, though it would not reveal itself until the following day. Shortly after, the party was able to discover a room that looked to have once been some sort of trophy room: taxidermied animals and busts (including crudely crafted taxidermied kobold heads) lined the walls along with their destroyed displays and several pieces of destroyed furniture amid sprays of frost that made the floor slick with ice. The culprit, they discovered, was none other than the dragon Calcryx. It turned out that Calcryx was a brand new hatchling, Meepo having greatly exaggerated the creature's size and majesty. Luckily for the party, the dragon had apparently been mistreated by the goblins and was overjoyed to see Meepo again.
The party then returned to Koboldtown with the kobold captives, Erky and Calcryx following along. The party allowed Meepo to take credit for the success of the mission, and Yusdrayl decreed that the kobolds would tell the legend of Meepo for generations to come, and that they would have an absolute rager to celebrate. The party drank and ate with the Kobolds and enjoyed their first taste of the successful adventurer's life.
The following morning, Kiki was overcome with arousal and desire for the sensation of the needle trap that pierced their hand the day previous. With EXTREMELY questionable methods, Kiki "seduced" Erky into attempting to recreate the sensation of the needle trap. When this failed to achieve the desired effect, Kiki unceremoniously kicked Erky out of bed. Erky continued to question the motivations, methods and sanity of the party, and began to get an inkling that he may have been better off in the kobold's cage where he was found.
After saying their farewells to the kobolds, the party pressed on. Erky once again pleaded with them to take him out of the Citadel, but the party was insistent that he remain with them. Begrudgingly, Erky accepted, and the party once again set out to delve deeper into Goblintown and deeper into The Sunless Citadel.
